Through participation in the Society’s programs and activities you can continue this legacy by actively supporting historic preservation and promoting educational and patriotic endeavors. Any woman 18 years or older regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background, who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution, is eligible for membership. Celebrating Nanyehi - Planting an Herb Garden with native herbs

Saturday May 28, 2016 Members of the Cherokee District DAR met at the grave site of Nancy Ward to plant an herb garden. Members of Rhea Craig Chapter joined members of Nancy Ward, Alexander Keith , Avery Trace and Ocoee Chapters to clear the weeds and plant the native herbs. We were joined by Becky Hobbs, 5th great-grand daughter of Nancy Ware (in center of photo of Rhea-Craig members) and Cherokee "Jimmy" shown in photo with Betsy Hobbs. Jimmy shared knowledge of the use of the herbs by the Cherokee.
